Reserve Army Air Force Meeting Set for May 18 1948

Army Air Force personnel will meet at 7 30 p m in the City Hall Council Room on Tuesday May 18 1948. Captain Louis F Rudulph Jr of Lordsburg will lead the meeting. Major Paul L Foster of Las Cruces will speak on Supply Evacuation and Transportation and show a military film. Open to officers and enlisted personnel.

P T A Meeting Friday With Exhibit At Central School

A PTA gathering is scheduled for Friday afternoon at the Central School Gym. Wilson and Central School will display class work from 2:00 to 4:00 PM followed by a business meeting and installation of officers by installing officer Mr. Freeburg. All members and parents are urged to attend.

Work Began on War Memorial in Court House Yard

Mrs. Betty Smith of the Chamber of Commerce announced that work started last Monday on the new war memorial monument to be erected in the Court House yard. If material shortages do not arise, it will be completed and ready for dedication Memorial Day. A full dedication program will be arranged before the services.

The regular Chamber of Commerce meeting will be held Monday the 17th in the Council Chambers at City Hall. All meetings are open to the public and attendance is urged. The chamber invites any suggestions for the improvement of Lordsburg and asks attendees to contribute ideas.

Hospital Deal Nears Completion

Attorney H Vearle Payne studies the process to purchase Lordsburg Hospital from Dr C B Austin and stockholders by the Chamber of Commerce for transfer to Hidalgo County to establish a city county hospital. The county may issue bonds for a new wing to meet standards. fund drive nears completion and asks remaining contributors to aid Lordsburg and Hidalgo County facilities.

Brownie Scout Picnic At Culberson Ranch

The Brownie Scouts held a picnic Monday afternoon from 3 30 to 6 30 at Culberson Ranch. Eighteen Brownies attended with leaders Mrs H C Linguist and Mrs J E Taylor. Mayor Martin appointed Gladys Sapp City Clerk Treasurer and Wm McKinney Police Judge at the Monday night meeting on May 10. The council approved both appointments.

Surprise Party For Mr and Mrs A Richards

A Sunday evening gathering honored Mr. and Mrs. A Richards on their 15th wedding anniversary.
