Thomas Carrion Dies in California at 64

Thomas G. Carrion 64 died April 29 in Redlands California. Survived by daughter Ann and two sons Thomas Jr and Paul Carrion, brothers Joe Lupe Sanchez Pablo Carrion Louis Rodriguez all of Riverside, Martin Carrion of El Centro, two sisters Eloisa Flores Lordsburg Dora Valdez Redlands. Born in Lordsburg he was a World War II Army veteran. Interment at Riverside National Cemetery. Lordsburg Motor Vehicle Department will close May 15 to 18 for a seminar in Albuquerque.

A Lordsburg resident pressed the Hidalgo County Commission for a clear answer on a proposed landfill from Driggs Corporation, with waste to come from Los Angeles. Commissioners denied knowledge, while calls to hire a professional for zoning and land use policy surfaced. The panel approved Potter and Kelley for policy work at 61000 and Bar VS Company for countywide garbage collection.

Lordsburg High School to Host Annual Sports Banquet

The Lordsburg High School Cafetorium will host the annual Lordsburg Sports Banquet on Tuesday May 16. All athletes from volleyball football basketball track tennis and baseball will be honored. A Mexican Combination Plate will be served for four dollars and attendance is open to parents friends and relatives.

County Voter List Update Notices Sent in Hidalgo County

Hidalgo County Clerk Missy Morelos says about 1000 voters received notices to return a voter card to stay on the active list. About half have responded, with the rest listed in section two of today's Liberal. Those notified must respond by May 26 to avoid suspension from the voter list.

Mayor Clark Smith announces May 15 start date for new solid waste rules in New Mexico. Lordsburg labeled a Class A Sanitary Landfill serving 3000 plus residents.
