Viola Wright to be 100 honored with two May events

City Council rescinds highway dept agreement and annexes state right of way
The City Council at its monthly meeting rescinded the agreement with the State Highway Department for borrow pits on municipal airport property and authorized appraisal and negotiation for land to be taken for Interstate 10. The body also annexed the highway right of way from the west city limits to the west I 10 interchange and set pool rates for summer. The council approved a utility services payment agreement with Home Lands Inc. for Simpson Addition.
