Staff Sergeant Badger Named 7th Air Force NCO of the Year
Staff Sergeant Phyllis Ann Badger, granddaughter of Victor and Betty Lazar, was selected 7th Air Force Non-Commissioned Officer of the Year in 1989 for the Intelligence Division. The presentation was in Seoul during her overseas tour. she was born and raised in Lordsburg and attended local schools.

At the May 8 regular Commission Meeting Gina Bassett received a plaque for five years as secretary and office manager. She will leave Lordsburg to join her husband in Ruidoso after school ends. The meeting saw approval of Election Resolution No. 90 9 and a budget change. A 5% tax penalty remains for overdue payments. The zoning moratorium extension was approved for 90 days, the second extension. The Forest Service contract at 1500 dollars is renewed. Waste site plans keep three sites Rodeo Cotton City Virden with roll on containers. A bid audit was opened with multiple bids listed.

Louie Biasa was announced as the new head football coach at Lordsburg High School succeeding Rick Taylor. Biasa, a 10 year district veteran, will also coach the junior varsity basketball team and operate a summer weight program with a wing offense and a 4 4 defense alongside assistants Manny Renteria and Richard Moore. He and his wife Connie have three daughters and he aims to build on a strong local athletic legacy.
