Advance Tickets For Film The Restless Ones

The Billy Graham Crusade office in the Chamber of Commerce Building announces advance sales for The Restless Ones to be shown May 21 and 22 at 6 15 p m at the Coronado Theatre. Tickets cost 1 00 in advance or 1 25 at the door with sales through Civic clubs churches or by calling 542 9362. Counsellor training sessions are set for May 5 12 and 19 at 3 p m at city hall. Governor's Safety Conference Next Week in Albuquerque

New Mexicans will learn of the cars of tomorrow at the Governor's Safety Conference in Albuquerque on May 8 and 9. Harry L. Blair of General Motors Corporation representing the Automobile Manufacturers Association will speak at the Conference Luncheon on Wednesday. Federal safety standards will drive radical design and construction changes, with many enacted standards already appearing in current models. The Western Skies Motor Hotel hosts the event with a 9:00 am opening session and no public registration fee. State Rep. George Blocker chairs the conference.

Carson & Barnes Circus to Visit Lordsburg Sunday

Carson & Barnes Circus announces a one day appearance in Lordsburg on Sunday May 5 at the Fair Grounds Parking Lot with 2 30 p m performances sponsored by Hidalgo County Jaycees. The show features SKY KING star Kirby Grant and a four ring production boasting a traveling zoo with rare animals and 24 acts including lions, elephants, high wire and aerialists.

Cotton City 4-H Club Receives $25 Grant For Safety

The Cotton City 4-H Club was awarded a $25 grant from $600 allocated to NM 4-H Clubs by General Motors Corp to promote Slow Moving Vehicle Emblems for cotton trailers. The club will buy emblems to place on trailers this fall and emphasize safety through 411 meetings and a Tractor Safety program led by Mr. Ed Hitson. The safety committee includes Julie Merrell, Richard Walters, Joycelyn Righeings, and Thad Garvin.

Lordsburg Band Members Attend May Clinic at NM Western

Fourteen Lordsburg High School Band members will join a Massed Band Clinic at New Mexico Western University on Friday May 2. The group rehearses with directors from participating schools and presents a free public concert at 8 p.m. in the Fine Arts Center Auditorium. Van Buren Music Studio Recital Set for June

Pupils of the Van Buren Music Studio prepare a recital at the Junior High Auditorium on Saturday June 1. A 35 cent admission is charged and tickets will soon be available from the students.

FRC Project Head outlines mine expansion and safety link

Robert Sehryver of Federal Resources Corp told Lions Club members that full scale production could add about 150 to the payroll, boosting workforce by over 50 percent. He described a planned underground drift linking the Bonney and 85 mines, improving safety and allowing cross mining and water management. The firm has invested a million dollars in development and expects to profit from newer methods with fewer workers. FRC, formed 15 years ago from uranium firms, now operates in nine western states and several Canadian provinces.

EB S A International Week Observed By Local Chapter

During EB S A Week May 17 members of the Alpha Upsilon Chapter attend church services at First Methodist Church while sorority sisters worldwide join in prayer. E S A, founded by ten women, promotes education philanthropy and social aims. The local chapter doubles its annual Lordsburg Hidalgo Public Library support and funds the Animas School milk program.
