Silver City dominates district track meet at Deming

Silver City scored 2442 points to win the district meet at Deming as Craig swept dashes in 100 10.8 and 220 23.8 amid cold wind and soft track. Stout set a low hurdles mark and tied the high hurdles record while Rawson led in the half mile and Kipp placed high in the 440. The Mavericks finished second in the relay before a disqualification.

Doctor Pemberton Held on Forgery Charge

Dr C A Pemberton Lordsburg veterinarian pleaded innocent to forgery in W M McKinney Justice Court. Sheriff Oscar Allen arrested him in Albuquerque and said he was also wanted in El Paso on similar charges. He was bound over to the May session after the hearing.

Funds Pour In for Texas City Relief Drive

Lordsburg reported a total of 217.70 dollars raised for Texas City relief as of today. The drive began last week under L. E. Jarrell with contributions from Dr. C. B. Austin Romney Produce Co. and others including a donor who chose to remain anonymous. Additional gifts came from D. N. Williams F. A. Chavez Mrs. Clara Kimb ley and several named individuals.

The Lordsburg Business and Professional Women held their regular meeting at the Spanish-American Cafe Thursday night April 24. Sanchez Funeral Held in El Paso

Funeral services were held in El Paso for Mace donio Sanchez 64 who died at his home at 2 30 am Monday He was born September 15 1882 in Durango Mexico and retired last September after 33 years with the railroad Survivors were not listed as they were in El Paso for the services.

Pyramid Lodge No. 23 Knights of Pythias plans an entertainment event for Mo renci and Deming Lodges on May 17 at KP hall. George Haltom announces a grand lodge judging team will attend. Dr. J. H.
