Over 21 Million Dollars In Cocaine Seizure Reported

A stop and search of a semi tractor and trailer on April 16 on I 10 by a Hidalgo County Deputy with New Mexico State Police and Lordsburg Police recovered 68 bricks of cocaine weighing 164.60 pounds. Information indicated transfer to a luxury car. Greenlee County Arizona deputies stopped the car at Duncan and seized 161 more bricks weighing 354.2 pounds. Total street value of the cocaine was 21,548,000.

Senior Health Fair Wednesday in Lordsburg Hidalgo County

The Sixth Annual Lordsburg Hidalgo County Senior Citizens Health Fair occurs Wednesday May 6 at the James H. Baxter Civic Center with free screenings for diabetes hearing blood pressure and cholesterol open to anyone over 50. Edna Marie Cooney 86 died April 26 at Sunshine Haven Nursing Home. She was born in Chicago and lived in Lordsburg eight years. Survived by son Ronald F. Cooney Spokane daughter Marilyn Foraker Lordsburg six grandchildren two great grandchildren. Funeral arrangements by Bacas Mimbres Crematorium. The Health Fair runs 9:30 AM to 2:30 PM and the 11th Annual Benefit Trail Ride is May 9 at KP Picnic Grounds with a $20 suggested donation to aid the Senior Center.

Ann Marie Moore Named To Transportation and Public Works Committees

Peso Chavez, president of the New Mexico Municipal League, appointed Lordsburg City Councilor Ann Marie Moore to the Transportation Committee and Public Works Policy Committee.
