Traveling movie stars to visit Lordsburg May 7

Lordsburg chamber and Warner Brothers arrange a stop for a group of about a dozen stars led by Will Hutchins on the Hollywood to Philadelphia tour. They arrive at 3 30 p m Thursday after an overnight Phoenix stop and will greet the public at the cement slab south of the Southern Pacific depot.

Delegates Named for Boys and Girls State Programs

At a faculty and Junior class meeting Girls State chairman Mrs. C C Fuller and Legion sponsors chose Girls delegates Mary Flinginger Sylvia Fierro Lucy Sanchez and alternates Martha Vargas Illa Gordon Dolores Rendon. Boys delegates Rudy Corral Jay Payne Norton Lehman Jim Redford and alternates Tommy Shoon Johnnie Mann. The programs teach state government through trained mentors with details to follow.

City Clarifies Little League Sponsorship Details

The city states it has never sponsored the Little League but provided uniforms and funded lighting and custodian salary for high school field use last year. It is preparing a baseball diamond at the west end of Short Memorial Park on Second Street.

Examination for Postmaster at Lordsburg Opens Soon

The closing date for filing applications for postmaster at Lordsburg is May 12, 1959. Cards may be secured at the Lordsburg post office and must be postmarked by that date. Tests will be in Deming later, with two parts on general abilities and post office management. Applicants must have resided within the local delivery area for one year prior. The salary is 5385 dollars annually. Donald McGhee currently serves as acting postmaster at Lordsburg.
