Imperial Motel at 922 E Railroad Lordsburg moves toward a May opening with a 33 unit, 347 500 dollar structure begun last December 30. Bernard Whitney announced Imperial 400 Motels Inc will operate in partnership with a co resident manager and equity partner. By 1965 the Imperial chain aims for 164 installations coast to coast.

Elsa Rex Kipp 84 of El Paso died Sunday March 26 in a Los Angeles hospital. Born in Frankfurt she moved to El Paso in 1884 and married engineer Rex Kipp in 1898. Surviving are three children Rex Jr Salt Lake City Rex Lordsburg and Mrs Fred Ward Lorles plus six grandchildren. Funeral services were held in Paso with burial in Evergreen Cemetery.

Paratrooper Dies in Road Crash Near Lordsbury
A 21 year old Army paratrooper from King City California died after his convertible rear ended a Brown Construction grader on Highway 70-80 about 11 miles west of Lordsbury around 7 04 p.m. Monday. Fred W Locke was en route from Fort Ord to Sam Houston Texas on Army orders. He suffered a fractured skull and head injuries. State Police officer Joe Rutland cited speed fatigue and possible failure to see the grader as the cause. The grader was moving about 20 miles per hour on the highway’s far right. The coroner later ruled Locke’s death from head injuries.
