John Albert Nicholson known as Butch died early Monday in Lordsburg after moving to Kansas and Iowa in his youth. Born February 15 1872 in Central Point Iowa he lived in Lordsburg since 1912. Survived by sister Mrs Retta Selby of Scotsville Kansas son John A Nicholson and daughters Mrs Gue Hill Coolidge Arizona and Mrs N V Pippin Cloverdale New Mexico. Funeral services held at Methodist church Tuesday with quartet music and a life story tribute. Burial at Mountainview Cemetery under Heather Mortuary.
The Woman’s Club hosts an open house on April 11 with games like bridge and Chinese checkers from 7 to 10 PM and dancing to follow. Refreshments available, admission 25 cents, with lemon dances and prizes for participants.

The new residence of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Ellison west of the Ellison Shell station is finished and occupied. Built in Pueblo style with white stucco and rustic wrought iron doors, interior design features Mexican motifs and varied room themes. The home was designed and built by Henry Ellison, Harry Scofield, Leon Ellison and Jim Stechman.
Lordsburg public library board teams with National Producing Company of Kansas City to stage Coast To Coast in April 2021. A trained director arrives to coach the high school cast for dancing and singing choruses. The lively comedy promises colorful extras and local display features.
The Senior clans of the Lords burg High School will have a food sale in the Community Public Service Company office tomorrow morning. J. W. "Uncle Jimmie" Cureton of the George Cureton home fell Saturday evening. Cureton is reported to have recovered and suffered no ill effects.
Mr and Mrs Harold BE Scofield were guests of Mr and Mrs Hugh Garrett of Steins Monday night for an informal social visit.
A large fire in Deming destroyed a business block housing stores and offices with estimated losses between 60000 and 70000 dollars. Discovered around 5:00 am the blaze grew rapidly and the Deming fire department with volunteers fought for over two hours to prevent greater damage. The Inferno consumed the Demingloo and Electric Company office Elite Barber Shop Western Union mercantile store and district highway department offices.
Federal Court jury quickly convicts Reuben R. Gale of falsifying WPA payroll certificates and acquits him on a related indictment. Earlier, Mora county residents were found guilty of political conspiracy in the WPA. Jurors deliberated after receiving the case at 3:30 p.m. and returning verdicts by 6:15 p.m. Judge Colin Nebrett presided.
After a week of bronchitis Holt travels to El Paso with his daughter Mrs. Sam P. Fulton for rest. He is studying a plan expected to give Lordsburg publicity upon his return.
