Mavericks Win State Championship Praises for Coach Pierce

The Lordsburg Mavericks, led by Coach Robert Pierce, were praised for a state title victory. Superintendent Miller and P. M. Melanix received acclaim as supporters. The crowd celebrated with a victory speech, band numbers, and widespread congratulations from officials and peers.

PAAA Farm Pro Am Gets Under Way

Virden community members are invited to a March 27 meeting at the Virden hall to join the farm program. Committeeman Robert Mortensen says participants must sign an effective agreement before June 1 1950 to be eligible. The program, ongoing since 1933, aims to control commodities conserve resources and maintain parity prices for farm products.

Douglas and Bisbee To Entertain Lordsburg Lions

Ten representatives from Douglas and ten from Bisbee will entertain Lordsburg Lions and local business leaders at the Lions luncheon on March 28. Delegation cars depart Douglas around 9 to 9:30 a.m., arriving in Lordsburg near 11, with a Hill Billy orchestra providing entertainment.

Dr E C DeMoss hosted the Lordsburg champions after their state tourney win at Hotel Hidalgo. Death of Mrs. Crocker noted in Los Angeles

Mrs Florence M. Crocker widow of Dr M. M. Crocker died at her sister's home in Los Angeles where she had lived since July 1927. The couple, natives of Wabash Indiana, once served at Rush Medical School Chicago and lived in Lordsburg from 1896 until Dr Crocker’s death in May 1927 while serving in the Pershing expedition era.

Beloved Lordsburg matron Sadie Small dies at 79

Sadie A Oliver Small wife of W H Small pioneer merchant of Lordsburg passed away after a long illness at her home in Lordsburg Monday March 20 at 2 90 oclock aged 79 years. Born January 26 1860 in Canton Ohio she devoted her life to aiding others and to church work. Mr Small came from Indiana to Lordsburg in 1882 they were leaders in the community and church life. The service honored her for decades of charity and service with the Eastern Star and the Methodist church.

Engagement Set for Mies Betey Congelman and Jack Kerr

Mr. and Mrs. Louis L. Conzelman of Los Angeles announce the engagement of their daughter Mies Betey Congelman to Jack Kerr son of Mr. and Mrs. Earle Kerr. The Spanish American Club organized a clothing class titled Making An Attractive Spring Dress taught by Mies Naomi Peninger. Eleven girls attended the first meeting as they chose patterns, materials, and trims, with future sessions on fitting, altering, and cutting. The class will meet Tuesdays and Wednesdays at seven. others may join by bringing a pattern and material.

Hill Wack president of Minern Chest Mining Company and Frank Darrow were in town Tuesday and Wednesday to discuss business and extend greetings to Maverick champions. Justice Marealia presided over several village cases this week. L. Merritt case ended without evidence to support fighting allegations against Pearl Coleman.
