Mrs. Linda Morelos was elected president of St. Josephs Ladies Altar Society at the last regular meeting succeeding Mrs. Cecilia Gandara. Trout Limit Lowered in Two Small Lakes

The New Mexico Game and Fish Commission reduced the daily bag limit to three trout for Escondida Lake in Socorro County and San Simon Lake in Hidalgo County. A 12 trout aggregate possession limit remains only if trout are caught in other waters, with total possession not to exceed 12. The change, prompted by half of the initial planting being caught early, aims to increase overall fishing success.

Church of Christ Pastor Returning to Oklahoma

Forest Service Sets Fees for Recreation Area Use

Regional Forester Fred Kennedy announced the Land and Water Conservation Fund Act program to fund future recreation areas. The 1965 annual sticker, valid for all occupants of a non commercial vehicle, goes on sale April 1 and begins June 1 in Southwestern National Forests. daily fees apply for those 16 and older. About 300 developed areas will require the sticker or a per entry fee, with a published list to come later.

Veterans chiefs meet with Johnson to seek hospital closures halt

A Tri State committee of service men's organizations left Silver City by plane for Washington to request President Johnson rescind the order closing Ft Bayard and other Veterans hospitals. James Kinkema represents the Lordsburg post of the VFW on the committee.

Family of Eleven Killed in Saturday Crash Near Lordsburg

Seven members of a Safford area family died when their station wagon collided head on with a TIME trailer truck six miles east of Lordsburg. Two more children died at Hidalgo General Hospital, with survivors including several in serious condition. The crash, under investigation, is linked to alleged alcohol use by the driver Enrique Valles. Funeral services were held at St. Joseph's Church.

Varsity Choir Delights Lions Club in Lordsburg

Lordsburg High School Varsity Choir conducted by Gene Rogers entertained visiting Lions from Tularosa at El Charro. Members included Elizabeth Atkinson Mar key Nancy Blakey Connie Brown Jean Galusha John Harper and others. Pianists were Louann Morgan and Jeune Hill. Soloists were Turrentine and Kennett. The group prepares a program for the Southwestern District Teachers Association meeting in Las Cruces on March 27 and for the Chamber of Commerce banquet in April.

George P. Jeffus suffered four heart attacks last Friday and was moved to Providence Memorial Hospital in El Paso on Wednesday. His condition was reported as not good, and Mrs. Jeffus was at his bedside.

Lucky Fan Big Winner At Juarez Dog Track

A Juarez miner, Ramon Pena Munoz, won $5,000 at Juarez Race Track by correctly picking a 25 to 1 shot in race ten. He exchanged his ticket for Demosthenes and Irish Gale in the final race to be the sole winner, following a track rule guaranteeing at least $5,000. Over 42,000 fans attended the first two weeks, breaking prior season records.
