Annual Dinner By B and P W Organization Held

Lordsburg hosts a large annual dinner at the Methodist Church as the Lordsburg Chapter of the Business and Professional Women's Club showcases its leadership. Mrs Emma Scofield presided, Miss Grace Willowick spoke on World as a Community, and over 125 attendees heard notes from local officials and a musical program.

Style Show at Woman's Club Showcased Spring Fashions

A Monday style event at the Lordsburg Woman's Club featured spring garments modeled by Miss Marlene Pierce, Miss Dorothy Taylor, Miss Patsy Gay Powell, Miss Faye Nally, and others. Supplies were provided by local shops Up To Date Dry Goods, Union, Style Shop, and Lehman’s. Guests toured the event and enjoyed tea, coffee, and bites after the show.

Mountain Lion Shot Near Cave Creek Canyon

A 70 pound mountain lion was shot and killed by Dr J H Ohm morning in the Cave Creek region near Ledbetter ranch. Clell and Dale Lee, famed hunters, tracked lions for 17 days through Paradise and Hilltop areas. They camped on the Franklin ranch at Paradise with 16 hunting dogs in three packs.

The U S Weather Bureau record shows daily highs and lows for a week. Entries include Friday March 14 with 71 high and 33 low and Saturday March 15 with 70 high. Sunday March 16 reports 70 with 36, Monday March 17 at 68 and 4, Tuesday March 18 68 and 42, Wednesday March 19 71 and 38.

Five Temples to Stage Ceremonial Here Saturday

Four visiting temples of the Dramatic Order of Knights of Khorassan join Tasheed No. 99 of Lordsburg for a ceremony here. The program includes a luncheon, business meeting, parade, street work, a dance at the Railroad Club and La Fiesta Club, and tickets are held by local dokeys. Visiting temples hail from Albuquerque El Paso Tucson Globe and other cities.

Soil Groups Meet Here Propose Scholarship Plan

A joint luncheon of the Animas Valley, Virden Valley and Grant Valley Soil Conservation Districts in Lordsburg proposed a scholarship for the winner of a conservation contest and closer rancher farmer and business cooperation. Dr H Dunagan welcomed guests and noted deaths affecting attendance. District officials and guests from Hidalgo and Albuquerque attended and discussed district cooperation and a state organization.

Forrest Sanders Is Out Of This World

There was a big shortage of lawyers here early this week H. Vearle Payne was out of town and E. Forrest Sanders was out this world. Sanders high flying came a result of twins born to him and Mrs. Sanders Sunday March 16. The twins, a boy and a girl, were named Charles Love Sanders and Nell Hays Sanders. Charles Love weighed 6 pounds 3 ounces. Sanders have one other child Ann McFarland.

Legion Auxiliary completes drive for new members

The American Legion Auxiliary finished its membership drive with results due next week. New members were guests at a Wednesday pot luck supper at the Woman's Club, arranged by Mrs. B. R. Everett. Membership chairman Mrs. Moselle Messecar noted eligible members can still request an application, as state secretary Mrs. Geraldine Mercier reported the national president would visit New Mexico on April 12 and urged prompt submissions from the Lordsburg unit.

Mrs Damon Dunagan Honored At Shower In Scofield Home

A tea shower honored Mrs Damon Dunagan at the Scofield residence last Friday. Hosts were Mrs Scofield and Mrs H H Bryant. Guests included numerous local women such as Mrs Jewel Birong and Mrs Etta Hatfield.

Mooney Heads Home From Lordsburg Soon

C. J. Mooney departs Lordsburg after four weeks as a printer and ad compositor for the Liberal and will return home to St Louis Missouri. After a rest he plans to join the News Democrat at Bellville Texas.
