Deming man found guilty of practicing law without license
District Judge Norman Hodges found Billy Edwards of Deming guilty of practicing law without a license in a March 9 1982 trial. He upheld an August 25 Luna County conviction after a 12 minute jury deliberation. Edwards filed documents for Guadalupe Granillo currently serving a sentence in Los Lunas.

Bessie Lee Adams Eades born 1894 in Weed New Mexico lived in Animas Valley most of her life. She married John William Adams and raised six children on Bull Creek ranch which remained in operation for 61 years. After Bills death in 1945 she ran the ranch for 36 years helping others and sharing meals with many, including Mexican nationals. Survived by son Robert L Adams and three daughters Faye Glaze Elva Flora Hughey and Merlene Walker, sister Jennie Harmon and brother Jesse Eades Burial at Mt View Cemetery with pallbearers Laddie Pendelton David Dunagan Clayton Yarbrough Perry Dugan Willis Walter Tom Day. Funeral services were held March 13 at Heather Chapel.

The Mavericks ended their season 20 and 7, finishing third in District AA after a second round loss. Greg Marrufo and Rickey Ibarra earned All State All Tournament honors, with Coach Pops Renteria praising the team for comeback effort and senior leadership guiding the Lordsburg squad toward future success.

February Is Big Month At Welcome Center
The State of New Mexico greeted 1 454 visitors at the Lordsburg Welcome Center during February 1982. The count was higher than 1 182 visitors in February last year, with the center handling 3 023 visitors so far this year, up from 2 473 during the same period last year.

Vangie Fuller died at 2 p.m. on March 15 1982 in Hillcrest General Hospital Silver City after a three week stay. She lived in Lordsburg 34 years arriving in 1948 with her husband Claude Fuller a retired veterinarian who died December 16 1949. Burial will be in Mt View Cemetery Lordsburg with services at Heather Mortuary at 10 a.m. March 18 1982.
