Incumbent Mayor Stephen Hill defeated Alan Koff two to one with 575 to 231 votes, while third candidate Virgil Widby had 17. In council contests, W L Sanders won Ward 1 501 to 296 over Tony Gonzales. Schulz led Ward 2 with 531 to Alvarez 237, Morelos topped Ward 3 with 577 to 208 for Moore, Placencia led Ward 4 with 496, Foust 222, Forsyth 77. Mary Hazard was unopposed for municipal judge with 516 votes. total major votes 806, 135 fewer than 1982. Hill's margin was 70 percent, versus 72 percent in 1982.

Joyce Baxter wife of the late Wayne K Baxter filed a 250000 dollar suit in 6th District Court against La Fiesta Night Club and Bar Fausto and Gene Noce Shady Grove Truck Stop and Cafe Inc Johnny Eddy and Ted Paulos operators of Shady Grove Tavern. The complaint says Robert B Reynolds Jr birthday celebration at La Fiesta then with Wayne they drank more at Shady Grove before a crash at 4 PM killed both men. Damages include hospital medical burial and related costs. A six man jury is requested.
