Merchants praise community turnout at Apprecia Day rally held Saturday. Virden Animas and Hac neighbors featured in the ad as hopes rise for more participation and barrel-name entries. Two Traffic Accidents Reported This Week
John R. Bradford of the N. M. State Police notes two traffic accidents this past week. On March 4 at 12 10 p m seven miles east of town a head on collision involved Hazel Gillette and Harvey Shafer of Kent Washington and a runaway trailer towed by O Dell Bryant of Idabelle Oklahoma. The trailer’s safety chain failed and the trailer struck the eastbound car. The trailer belonged to Bryant’s brother who died in a previous crash. Both women were hospitalized with facial injuries and the trailer was a total loss. The second crash occurred March 5 twelve miles east of the Arizona state line on state highway 14 when A F Cubbison of Farmont Nebraska rear ended J H Royalty of Jackson Mississippi. Cubbison did not see Royalty slowing and was fined $25 for reckless driving.

The Lordsburg Concert Band directed by Roger Brandt will perform at Central Gym on Friday night March 7 at 8 p m. The program includes Sousa marches Buchtel tunes Zimmermann pieces and Welters Copa Cobana among others. The event doubles as a membership drive by the Lordsburg Band Parents Club with a small admission charge.

Leaders Attend Meet At Silver City Girl Scout Event
Silver City Hurley and Lordsburg leaders met at the Girl Scout Little House in Silver City for an all day round table session. Mrs Gloria Raleigh of Dallas led the discussion with troop questions and finance slides. Lordsburg attendees included Mrs W Freeburg Mrs Eleanor Raymond and Mrs Frank Bowman. They appealed for funds to send Scouts to Thunderbird from June 1 to 7.
