Chaipwean C. C. Fuller oversees the Fifth War Loan Drive with the goal of $182 900 for the state and county. Only about half of the bond quotas have been met as six days remain. The message stresses national duty and urges all to sacrifice money to finance ships and planes needed against Germany and Japan.
The June 17 wedding united Miss Helen Johnson of Silver City with Flight Officer Lee Landwall of the U S Air Forces at Deming Army Air Field. Rev. Wilson Akin officiated before intimate friends with attendants Wilesy Hans and Sgt Kenneth.

Rev R Bertrand Reed officiated at St Pauls Lutheran church parsonage. The couple planned a northern Wisconsin wedding trip and will reside after Camp Flora duties.
Mr. and Mrs. Dewey Jones returned from Dallas where they attended the funeral of Dewey’s half brother T. S. Webb 63 a longtime prominent restaurateur in his native city.
The N. and T. Club gathered Tuesday with Mrs. A. L. Green for an afternoon of sewing enjoyed by nine members.
The U S Treasury urges farmers to act as pessimists in early inflation and optimists later, to use credit wisely and invest in War Bonds. It emphasizes replacing worn equipment, preventing inflation, and protecting farming families while supporting the war effort with Series EB Bonds yielding 2.9 percent over ten years.
Congressan Wright Patman of Texas criticized postwar price levels citing that in the third year after the last war $43.75 buys one barrel of flour and 100 pounds of sugar, while $45.75 buys a barrel of flour 100 pounds of sugar and several other items. The list drew attention in a Boston window display.
The OPA announces a series of meetings this week with district automotive specialists to explain and enforce the new price controls for used passenger automobiles effective July 10. Isadore Frank, a price specialist from the Albuquerque district office, will attend the Denver regional meeting.

Wilmer J. McMillin a Colorado farmer and livestock grower and longtime assistant to Colorado State College president Roy M. Green has been named regional agricultural advisor for the Office of Price Administration with Denver headquarters. He will aid in rationing and price control for farmers and livestock growers across New Mexico Colorado Wyoming Utah Idaho and Montana. The appointment takes effect July 1.
Limited quantities of odd lot shoes may be sold to consumers at reduced prices during the period July 10 through July 29, district OPA officials announce. The action mirrors last July and aims to dispose of broken sizes and other odds and ends in stock.

Samuel Davies Baldwin born January 25 1850 in Lebanon son of Rev S Baldwin and Caroline Baldwin. He hunted buffalo in Texas 1870s worked railroad Crossties at Raton Pass freighted for government then mined at San Pedro Lucky Mine. Elected to Territorial Legislature in 1888 moved to Washington 1892 returned to New Mexico 1925 to mine with sons. Survived by seven grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. Funeral at Heather Mortuary with Rev Poage music by local quartet. Interment Mountain View Cemetery.
The Womans Society of Christian Service has suspended summer meetings. The first fall gathering will be hosted by Mrs. Jack Heather on September 1, with co-hostesses Mrs. Hr H. Conder and Mrs. F. J. Malone.
Mrs. Jesse Bingaman, daughter of Mrs. George Wood, who has stayed with her mother for weeks, left last Thursday with her two children for San Diego California where she plans to make her home temporarily.

Aunt Dona Hutchinson born April 19 1857 in San Saba Texas lived as pioneer with husband George Hutchinson homesteading near Douglas before moving to Lordsburg in 1916. She joined Methodist then Baptist churches and died Friday morning June 23 after funeral at the Baptist church with Rev N T Ray. Interment Mountainview cemetery.

Juan Galvan 17 of Lordsburg joined the U S Navy with sworn in as an apprentice seaman at the main Santa Fe recruiting station after volunteering through the Silver City Navy Recruiting Sub Station. He was released to inactive duty for ten days and will be transferred to the Naval training station.
