Kennecott Copper Corporation's Chino Mines Division announces a 10 day summer visitor tour program. Daily tours run Monday through Friday through Hurley during vacation shutdown July 22 to August 3, starting at 9 a.m. at the public relations office. Open to ages 14 and older with no reservations required. At Santa Rita, New Mexico, the open pit mine remains a year round daylight hours observation point.

Funeral services for Alonzo L. Blanton Sr. held in Heather Chapel
Alonzo L. Blanton Sr. died June 22 in Silver City New Mexico after a life in education and public service. Born January 29 1898 in Durant Oklahoma he taught thirty years retiring in 1960 including a later period at Lordsburg Schools. World War II veteran he worked as a Leading man for Consolidated Steel in Orange Texas. He is survived by his wife Mable son A L Blanton Jr five grandchildren and several siblings. Funeral Monday at 2 00 p m officiated by Rev W C Strickland with Mt View Cemetery burial.
