New Mexico Postwar Sugar Ration Plans Announced

William H. Black, district OPA rationing executive, said postwar sugar allotments for New Mexico will continue for July to September with bakers excluded from the grant and on the same ration basis as other industrial users receiving 60 percent of their sugar base. A five pound second canning stamp, Spare Stamp No 10, will be validated July 1 and valid through October 31, while Spare Stamp No 9 remains valid for five pounds through October 31. The next five pound regular consumer stamp is planned to be validated September 1.

Carlsbad Laundry Prices Boosted by OPA Ruling

District OPA Price Division approved higher rates for flat work and commercial laundering serving hospitals hotels and other businesses in Carlsbad. Albert Malm the district OPA accounting executive discussed the change with laundry managers and local leaders. New commercial prices set at five cents per pound over 60 pounds and a reduced rate for bundles under 50 pounds were deemed acceptable.

Duran Joins Marines After Football District Meet

Daniel 8 Duran of Lordsburg has passed his final exam for enlistment in the United States Marine Corps. Marine Jeep Overturns On Road Out Of City

Monday night a Marine jeep returning from Lordsburg overturned after veering to avoid an unidentified truck on a hill, as loose gravel caused the loss of control. Thomas Mulvey suffered a fractured skull and serious injuries and was taken to William Beaumont Hospital. his condition later improved. Other injured were Sgt. Bisham with a head wound, Platoe with cuts and bruises, Sgt. Cook with a bruised chest.
