Lordsburg Knights of Pythias plan a July 4 celebration marking the lodge’s 60th anniversary at Shakespeare, New Mexico. Activities include a barbecue and picnic at picnic grounds on the Silver City road, an unveiling of a memorial shaft, and a program featuring pioneers such as Emma Muir.

Invitations have been received for the wedding of Dan Park Hill George and Eileen Marie Dillebay to be held Sunday June 23 at Trinity Methodist Church Newcomerstown Ohio. The nuptials were announced at a party hosted by the bride’s mother last Friday. The couple met at Newcomerstown High School class of 1941. Eileen served in the Waves and was stationed in Washington DC. discharged last December. Dan is the son of Mr and Mrs R K George and a 1941 graduate of Lorde burg High School. recently discharged from the Navy where he was a radio operator.
Ed and Leslie Wright departed last Sunday evening for California to be with their mother who is seriously ill.
Walter M. Connell, district OPA price executive, announced a June 12 bread price rise. The loaf increases by one cent per pound and one cent per dozen for bread type rolls, with rye bread exempt from this ceiling adjustment.
The maximum glass bottle deposit for fluid milk is raised from 3 to 5 cents by the district OPA division this week. The charge may apply to buyers beyond domestic consumers to encourage bottle returns amid a glass bottle shortage. Milk sellers argue many buyers delay returns, worsening the shortage.
Government officials say mills are producing more cotton fabrics at record speed. More velilog rayon and other materials are expected to flood the market with shirts and garments soon. Prices listed for shirts include 1.29 1.07 and 2.60 with government programs guiding costs.
The Clayton residence hosted a birthday party last Thursday for Tom Clayton Jr. Guests included Mr and Mrs Sherwood Culberson, Mrs Mary Culberson, Mr and Mrs Arlo Benson, Tom Clayton Sr, Bobby Reynolds and Miss Betty Reynolds. Fiddler Joe provided music for the evening.

A letter from Bob Ellison next week notes V-5 Navy work at Southwestern University Georgetown Texas. He is busy with finals and expects to finish Thursday then hopes for leave home. He plans to attend the College of Mines next September. The Tuesday Sewing Club met with Miss Gladye Whisfant. Attendees included Mira Arlo Benson Mrs John Robertson Mrs Frank Bowman Miss Mary Louise Noee Miss Ruthie Whianant and the hostess with cake and two desserts served.
Catechism instruction during the school year conducted by Mrs Ida Aragon with instructors. Recreation and sports for boys every Saturday. Sunday Masses from October with English Mass at 9 I clock and Spanish sermon at 10 50 a m. Weekday Mass at 6 30 a m.
The Church of the Nazarene at Seventh and Shakespeare lists Sunday School at 10 a.m. Devotional service follows at 11 a.m. The Junior Society meets at 6 p.m. Evangelistic service is at 7:30 p.m. Midweek Prayer service is held on a weekday evening.
The one day Golf Tournament for Southwestern Mexico is set for Sunday the 23rd at Hurley. About sixty players are expected as the course is in top condition. Qualifying scores must be in by 8:45 with pairings at 9:00 and first round matches at 9:30. Lunch is from 11:50 to 12:30. Entrance fee is $1.00. Bring your caddies if possible.
Joly Rodger George and Mrs. George relocate to Boston as John Rodger proceeds to MIT to pursue a Master’s Degree funded by the Coast Guard.
Congratulations to Mr and Mrs Arthur Talavada formerly Talavera Reviera. he recently entered the Navy after attending SAS. Mr and Mrs F M Beouvbeny of Tucson were guests of Mr and Mrs W B Ox isheer. Brimberry is retired from railroading and plans an extended East trip before settling back in Tucson.
Mr. and Mrs. John Bradford hosted dinner Thursday evening. Also noted are Mr. and Mrs. J. V Yuk of Deming and Mr. and Mrs. Benny Hassell of Sépar in attendance or mention.
The final summer gathering of the Past Matrons Club was held at Mrs. Hazel Chase's home last Friday. Members present included Mrs. Eleanor Coch rap, Mrs. Ella Brown, Diredhaud Green, Mrs. Addie Trimble, Mrs. Myrtle Augustine, Mrs. Dore Kerr, Mrs. Jennie Gass, and Mrs. Hattie Martin. Guests for refreshments were Mrs. Franklin B. Poege, Mrs. Harry Chane, and Mrs. Eula Ownby.
Mr and Mrs Archie McDaniel move to Las Cruces where Archie attends State College. He spent one term before Army induction and was discharged last February. Both are LHS graduates and reside in the Veterans Command.
Sometime Monday night thieves entered the garage of P. M. Chase and removed three wheels tires and life guard tubes from hid or leaving blocks under the axles.
Mr and Mrs E M Fisher returned Tuesday evening from an extended visit to Louisiana.
John Conner visits his grandfather T. B. Williams and Mrs. Williams. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Tra Conner of Phoenix.
Mrs Warry Scofield relates that her cousin Major William Sapper of Desota Missouri has served with the Atomic Unit. He was stationed at Warthington D C but now is attached to the Bik jul project.
The B P W club's summer trip to Cureton ranch included a hostess Della Cureton table of fried chicken and a meeting. Mrs Clara Kimbley presided and appointed committees for the year while delegates to the State Convention in Albuquerque June 21 23 were named. Four new members were voted in and thanks were extended to the Curetons for the pleasant evening.
The N and T Club met Tuesday at Mrs Bertha Koff home. Mrs Harry Scofield won the hostess prize. Attendees included Mrs F K Poage Mrs A L Green Mrs George Trimble Mrs George Wood Mrs Charlee Fuller and Mrs May Hanner.
On June 7 in Lovington New Mexico Miss Babara Wright of Lordsburg married Robert Rutherford. The quiet ceremony was at her sister Mrs. Herbert Little’s home. The couple plans to live in El Paso.
Sixteen members gathered last Tuesday at the Lordsburg Cafe for a Lions Club meeting. All members are urged to attend the next meeting at noon Tuesday at the Womans Club.
Mr and Mrs FE Bowman and family plus Frank Blowman and others held a swimming party in Bowie on Saturday evening. The gathering featured a picnic lunch and celebrated Allen's birth.

A week old letter from Glen Rosas Jr written June 8 in Naples recounts travels through Singapore and China to Colombo Ceylon and Canday. He visits the Shrine of Buddha's Tooth Alexandria zoological gardens and the Mont pleasant Mon ais Peon ort eeraneos stop. He plans to go to Glonralter and Casa Blanca and may return to the U S in July while stationed at U S 8 Greenwich Bay.
Ming Anna Lee Ray wed James W Burruss in Safford on June 15 at 9 46 pm. J Harold Mitchell of the Church of the Latter Day Saints led the ceremony. The bride wore powder blue with a pink carnation corsage. Witnesses were Bruce and Imajenan Rose. Others attending included Reyd Taylor Gordon Kimbley Katherine Dunagen and Cleo Goodner.
