An air crash ten miles west of Ideburg on Tuesday afternoon killed Major W L Van Dusen and Carl Gragg after the B 24 D bomber piloted by J B L Jones caught fire midair for unknown reasons. A coroner's jury ruled deaths due to lack of altitude for parachutes. Investigators from Biggs Field and local officers arrived to assist.

Carl Arnold aged 18 claimed the world's steer roping championship at Roswell on June 21. He earned a five thousand dollar purse and a thousand dollar silver trophy, defeating Jim Brister seconds after the roping rest. Crosby finished with a time of 528.4 seconds and two penalties.
