National Guard to Drill Wednesday Nights

Lordsburg Calvary Platoon of the National Guard will drill weekly from now on. Drills are set for Wednesday nights at 7 30. Captain Cain will inspect soon as orders allow in preparation for a two week summer encampment in Las Vegas. Plans are underway for a state wide summer camp for Guardsmen.

Lordsburg Beats Central Wildcats In Fast Confident Rally

Lordsburg defeated the Central Wildcats 18 to 7 in a high pace game at Lordsburg. Jack Allison collected five hits in six at bats, Alvarez and Thomas homered, Allen pitched well until tiring in the seventh, Alvarez departs for Tucson to join another team, and the Bearcats head to Central next Sunday for a return clash.

Buddy Brown and Johnny B Morris have bought the Farl Brown barber shop behind the Railroad Cafe and will operate their own shop this week. Brown and Morris long served at Service Barber shop with Morris as manager before its move. Both are skilled barbers with many friends, and Brown may remain at the current location for a time.

Douglas Chamber Banquet Attended by Local Officials

Postmaster J L Augustine, his friend O Evang Mikesell from Pittsburgh, Maurice Cairk, and Chamber of Commerce secretary W G Holt attended the Douglas Chamber banquet at the new Ciadeden hotel on Wednesday night. The Douglas highway is in excellent condition and the trip can be made in two and a half to three hours. The highway project will open on July 4 to create the Douglas road.
