Mr Harber Heather, secretary and treasurer of the Mexico Funeral Directors and Embalmers Association, was named Outstanding Mortician of the Year at a two day state convention at the Hilton Hotel in Albuquerque. He was re elected secretary and treasurer and will attend the national convention in October in Minneapolis.

Freeman found dead in hotel room published in city hotel
Charles W. Freeman of Kirby’s Cafe was found in his hotel room at the 8. P. Hotel Wednesday morning. A heart event was given as the cause and his body was taken to Heather Mortuary for funeral arrangements.

City Spraying Machine Targets Insects With Tex Mixture
Residents awoke to a Tiff sprayer emitting thick vapor over sections of the city. The device, under city contract with A and D Peat Control Co of Phoenix, sprayed a smoke Tex mixture to kill insects. Jack Moore supervised the setup with Tom Gass overseeing city utilities. The operation started at 4 a m and ran until the city was sprayed.

Frontier Airlines to Improve Lordsburg Flight Times
Frontier Airlines will adjust services to Lordsburg with new departures to El Paso and Phoenix. The El Paso flight leaves Lordsburg at 10 36 AM arriving 12 13 PM, the Phoenix flight at 9 44 PM arriving 4 37 PM. Effective July 1, aiming for better connections with American, Continental, and Trans World airlines.

Iowa Ghosts Edge Local All Stars In Hard Fought Softball
The Iowa Ghosts from Sioux City defeated the local All Stars 9 to 7 in a mixed play game. Net proceeds benefited local girl Scouts with 50 percent of earnings going to the group.

State Encampment Of VFW And Aux Held At Las Cruces
The 19th State encampment of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and its Auxiliary met in Las Cruces June 11 12 13 and 14. Delegates from more than twenty posts attended the gathering with a memorial service in Knights of Columbus hall opening the convention. Mayor Sam Klein welcomed attendees and national leaders from Washington DC and Chicago spoke at sessions led by Bayard officials George Eaton and Mrs Margaret Jones.
