Man Made River Found In Graham County
Fifty years ago settlers near Solomonville created a small ditch to drain land in the San Simon valley. Erosion and over grazing spawned a powerful river that now floods, erodes, and carries silt toward the Gila and San Carlos reservoir. The U.S. Soil Conservation Service plans a restoration program costing about 840,000 dollars to stabilize the watershed and prevent further damage.
