Lordsburg School Board debates a June 30 special election to fund capital outlay with up to two mills per thousand assessed value. The plan, backed by Senate Bill No. 9 and state funding, aims for improvements at Central Elementary, Lordsburg High School, and other facilities while preparing the 1975 76 budget.
A Deming County road accident killed seven people including Evelyn Guess and her children Virginia Cecil Wayne and Janet. The car crossed traffic, went off the road and flipped on its roof near South Dugway Canyon. Two survivors were found conscious, later removed from the wreckage.
Albuquerque architect William Matotan and three co defendants face a district court damage suit over the 2.5 million gallon water tank collapse in July 1974. Matotan told the city council he was not at fault and urged withdrawal. The council adjourned the decision pending a future vote by the mayor and council.
