A group of youths faced charges after vandalism on Ka Second St and West A St. Damages totaled 76 dollars and a warrant was issued for another involved youth. A weapon discharge case under ordinance No. 191 was also noted.

Lordsburg forms a new LULAC chapter with installation of C Altuna Jr as president and district governor Margarito Dominguez presiding. New officers include Herbert Saacedo vice president Eddie Diaz secretary treasurer Alberto Lopez recording secretary Tony Moreno guardian guide and trustees Manuel Gandara Pete Maxwell Reyes Aguilera plus chaplain Alfredo Morelos. Mayor Alan A Koff received a welcome from vice president Saacedo during a dinner following the ceremony.
An AA meeting will be held Friday evening June 9 at 8 00 p m in the Justice of the Peace office within the Library building in Lordsburg. The open gathering invites all interested attendees to participate.

Three Lordsburg High School juniors Beth Lyte Mimi Lehman and Oleg Gonnais will attend Girl's State at the University of New Mexico Albuquerque June 11 18. Sponsors include B P W Club PTA Moctezuma Club Ladies Altar Society Pythian Sisters and the Auxiliary. They will learn government functions and campaign organization and compete for elective offices. Chaperones are Mrs Pauline Bleck and Mrs Irene Williams.
Fire destroyed the engine compartment of an auto transport truck at the port of entry near town at 9 50 am. The trailer was unhooked and towed. cars on the trailer were not damaged. The truck owned by Le guillons Quality Autos of San Jose California was driven by Carroll Easton Boyd of Fremont California. The vehicles were headed to an auto auction in Phoenix. Earlier, a grass fire along Highway 70 near the town was reported around 4 30 am possibly started by a cigarette or match from a parked car.
Word reached Lordsburg of the death of Thomas E Hall of San Diego California on May 28 He was a former Lordsburg merchant arriving from Texas in 1922 He worked at Lordsburg Mercantile Co later owned a share of Eagle Drug Co as manager until 1945 He retired to Las Cruces then ran The Friendly Drug Store before moving to Carrizozo and finally San Diego He is survived by his widow three sons and a daughter.
Mr. Travis Davis announced there is time to register for mechanical drawing and crafts for adults and students. Leather lapidary metal tooling glass etching and other crafts are offered. The final registration day is Monday June 12 from 6 00 to 8 00 pm at the High School Shop. Call 542 9134 for more information.
A capacity crowd watched Gene Moore's Moore club edge the Elks 6 to 5 in the Little League opener. M. Montoya hit a homer as CPS routed the Weevils 14 to 0 in Pony League. Millican's edged Mil rcans Enco 11 to 9 as C Moore and J Orona homered for the winners.
In last week's Liberal the student Yolanda Renteria was omitted from the Honor trip photo. She stood beside Mrs. Cureton and in front of Mrs. McAlister. We regret the error.
