Cattle growers from several states plan a meeting in Silver City to discuss stock issues livestock production and market conditions. The executive board will present a program covering hides meat and possible national livestock policy in progress and potential treaty or regulatory considerations.
The Unbeating Store of Lordeburg announces joining Federated Stores of America, enhancing buying power into the millions. Harry Hosenstern touts access to a large enterprise and its monthly bargains booklet offering wide discounts to residents seeking low prices. Community shoppers urged to visit for value.
Correspondent Melvin Maas of Minnesota's Eighth District sends thanks for a May fifteenth letter and accompanying features. He notes forwarding a photo with Major Fitzgerald to Brookfield command and hopes Congressman James can visit Lordsburg Airport on his next western flight.
The regular communion will be held at the Methodist Church Sunday morning with both morning and evening services led by the Pastor. A large electric fan will provide cooling during the heat and attendees are invited to bring lunch for an afternoon in the hills. The pastor invites all to attend.
Mrs C K Thompson of Duncan Arizona spent a few days in town the first of the week visiting her sister Mrs Charles Fuller.
J. Perrin in charge of Animas test well operations reports that W. N. Mitchell of Tulsa has directed resumption of work. Drilling paused while leases from the Federal Government were resolved and permits canceled for non operation. With the matter straightened, work is expected to restart immediately.
Travis and Milburn of Silver City Veigidaire and Delco dealers led a series of refrigeration plant installations in Lordsburg in recent weeks. Projects include Hidalgo Drug Store Manhattan Cafe Union Cafe and several private homes. The visitors report strong demand and reliable deliveries despite distributing beyond territory limits.
A Witt Visit Texas party led by Mrs Elbert Jones includes two children Mee L J Jones and Mra G W Trimble with Merc Win Downsend and Mrs Em Ron Dew. They leave Friday for a two week visit to relatives in Rochelle San Baba Abilene Fort Worth and other Texas cities.
Misa Mattie Mith and Lawrence Sagar were quietly married Saturday afternoon in Judge W. Marsalis's office in the presence of relatives. Mrs. Semarie Smith, a 1920 high school graduate, is the bride's mother. The couple will relocate to Oklahoma after a brief wedding period.
W W Gilpin flew from Los Angeles to New Mexico in a Fairchild airplane and gave Dr. J G Egon a first ever airborne flight. Mrs Rh A Egon Mrs FE A Holmetrand and Alberta Willis joined, all highly enjoying the experience aboard the Fairchild ship.
Mr C Grubbs visited Lordsburg with his father in law J H Burkett of Clyde Texas a known pecan nurseryman. Burkett argues pecans thrive around 5000 feet and the local region could become a key pecan area. He sent analpecan trees to the Chamber of Commerce secretary for study.
H. Vivane Mikesell of Pittsburgh has shown interest in the Lordsburg mining district. He returned from the east and is making important investigations in mineral and oil lands.
Mr and Mrs George McLain relocate from Liver City and will occupy a Johnson residence next week. McLains are noted as federal agriculture inspection service experts now stationed locally. Welcomed to the community they join both business and social circles and bring Mississippi roots.
The Methodist district conference met at the Albuquerque church with large attendance from pastors and laymen across the district. Sessions included sermons by visiting pastors and Judge Mead of Marfa Texas. Delegates named include C P Jeffus G C Garver W A Jones J T Hedman Mrs Walker TL Young Dr J P F Zimmerman and Mrs S A Crawford with alternates Senator Bratton and Judge Waut and illness affected some attendees. The Woman's district meeting continues today to close the sessions.
Dr. Wadford, a chiropractor with earlier offices in the Hoy Hotel, relocates to larger lobby floor space at the Vendome Hotel after several weeks in the city. He says the move will allow better service and easier public access and invites patients to visit his new offices.
A Sunday night church discussion at the Church of Christ questions if morality alone can make a man. The Evangelistic service and Christian Endeavor programs are praised. Young people are invited to C K meetings, Bible school, and communion services led by Minister D W Hadwin.
Dr ES Walford of Detroit visits to review Wolverine Mining Co operations at Bilver Meigets. He says progress is promising and hopes to develop a large mine.
Miss Pather Hinshaw and Floyd Trendt wed, joined by Miss Mary Hinshaw and Marcus Sharpe in a double ceremony at the Hinshaw home in Yuma. Mrs Trendt, former Lordsburg High student, attends Tempe State Teacher's College. Newlyweds depart for a Los Angeles honeymoon.
Lordsburg tailor W. W. Wilkerson left Monday for El Paso to attend a convention of master cleaners serving Texas and New Mexico. He will travel to Waco to join Mrs. Wilkerson for a few weeks of visiting friends and relatives before returning.
J K Kernel, 42, a noted brakeman and conductor for Southern Pacific, headquartered in El Paso, collapsed from heart failure at the Railroad Club Monday evening. Dr Danke Anatin of the Southern Pacific medical staff attributed death to the heart condition. Kernel was a familiar figure to Lordsburg residents and left a grieving family.
Last Saturday Miss Dorothy Brengele left for El Paso to visit Miss Louie Jessen. Sunday she joined Miss Johnnie McCabe and John Clark. They attended the formal final ball and the commencement exercises at the New Mexico Military Institute, returning Wednesday. Later in the week Tom McGabe Harold Beofield and Charles Jeffes were expected to return home for summer vacation.
Mr and Mrs Frank McCarthy returned Saturday from a ten day honeymoon to the Grand Canyon and other points of interest. Mrs McCarthy taught at Valedon School and will join her husband at the Eagle Drug Store in the Hedalgo hotel building where he will oversee the new store. He is a National Guard lieutenant and popular in town. They reside in Dick Cureton apartments. The Wildcat defeated the Silver City Motora at the Silver City ball park last Sunday. Bearcats schedule a return game with the Motora at Lordsburg next Monday.
Noted American cartoonist Sidney Senith and party journeyed to Lordsburg praising the hotel Hidalgo Grill its service and the pure water. Mr Smith his family and the artist lauded the climate highways and New Mexico hospitality before continuing to Gammon and California.
Hollywood executives say New Mexico offers virgin scenery and sunlit sets, with highway upgrades making the state ideal for a future motion picture hub. They cite Carlsbad Cavern as a premier location for The Medicine Man and promise a landmark sound picture with Technicolor and extensive lighting.
Editor notes the Hidalgo Hotel tower glowing with neon at night marks a new era in Lordeburg as the P O Deevelopment Company tests a well twelve miles west of the city. By Wednesday afternoon the drill reached 620 feet and showed promising formations. Enthusiasm runs high among promoters drillers and visitors.

Benjamin Pankey former New Mexico Commissioner of Public Lands and noted public servant died at St Vincent's sanitarium after a brief illness. Known for bipartisan support and strong Senate service, he enjoyed wide popularity and led in several counties. His successor will face high expectations.
Mrs Sam Fulton from Deming joins sister Miss Margaret Holt to honor the birthday of Willard E. Holt born near Henry Ford. The Holt daughters hosted dinner for Willard with A W Morningstar, G P Jeffus, and Maurice Clark. June 4 marks the suffrage amendment's passage noted by the secretary.
