Methodist to Commune Sunday Services at Local Church

The regular communion will be held at the Methodist Church Sunday morning with both morning and evening services led by the Pastor. A large electric fan will provide cooling during the heat and attendees are invited to bring lunch for an afternoon in the hills. The pastor invites all to attend.

Will Resume Drilling on Animas Test Well

J. Perrin in charge of Animas test well operations reports that W. N. Mitchell of Tulsa has directed resumption of work. Drilling paused while leases from the Federal Government were resolved and permits canceled for non operation. With the matter straightened, work is expected to restart immediately.

Mr C Grubbs visited Lordsburg with his father in law J H Burkett of Clyde Texas a known pecan nurseryman. Burkett argues pecans thrive around 5000 feet and the local region could become a key pecan area. He sent analpecan trees to the Chamber of Commerce secretary for study.

The Methodist district conference met at the Albuquerque church with large attendance from pastors and laymen across the district. Well Known Railroader J K Kernel Dies in El Paso Club

J K Kernel, 42, a noted brakeman and conductor for Southern Pacific, headquartered in El Paso, collapsed from heart failure at the Railroad Club Monday evening. Dr Danke Anatin of the Southern Pacific medical staff attributed death to the heart condition. Kernel was a familiar figure to Lordsburg residents and left a grieving family.

Visites At Roswell Students Plan Summer Home Visit

Last Saturday Miss Dorothy Brengele left for El Paso to visit Miss Louie Jessen. Sunday she joined Miss Johnnie McCabe and John Clark. They attended the formal final ball and the commencement exercises at the New Mexico Military Institute, returning Wednesday. Later in the week Tom McGabe Harold Beofield and Charles Jeffes were expected to return home for summer vacation.

Newly Weds McCarthy Return From Honeymoon in Grand Canyon

Mr and Mrs Frank McCarthy returned Saturday from a ten day honeymoon to the Grand Canyon and other points of interest. Mrs McCarthy taught at Valedon School and will join her husband at the Eagle Drug Store in the Hedalgo hotel building where he will oversee the new store. He is a National Guard lieutenant and popular in town. They reside in Dick Cureton apartments. The Wildcat defeated the Silver City Motora at the Silver City ball park last Sunday. Bearcats schedule a return game with the Motora at Lordsburg next Monday.
