Animas Panthers Fund Raiser Names Ed Lopez MC
Ed Lopez of KOAT TV will replace Terry McDermott as master of ceremonies for the Animas Panthers fundraiser. More than two hundred tickets sold, expected to surpass 250 by Saturday. The event offers a Hawaii trip for two, fifteen door prizes, and drawings start at 8:30 p.m. Tickets bought will have names painted on a sign at the Community Center and later moved near the football field for recognition. Alice King and several local candidates will attend the barbeque and dance.

Services Held Thursday For Merle Janet Dean
Merle Janet Dean died Monday May 28 at Gila Regional Medical Center in Silver City. A funeral was held Thursday at 3:00 PM at Baca's Heather Funeral Chapel with Ed Kerr officiating. Interment followed at Mountain View Cemetery. Born 1902 in Sterling City Texas to Mary and Oscar Bagwell she worked as a cattle buyer and later ran a Rodeo grocery. After retirement she moved to Lordsburg. Survivors include three sons Jay O. Dean Jr Jack Dean Steven Dean. three daughters Nancy Strickland Annabel McNabb Mary Lou Voulgaris. three brothers Phil Bagwell Ed Bagwell Johnny Bagwell. two sisters Faye Johnston Opal Richmond. 18
