An Office of Court House announces a summer clinic starting Wednesday. Details on location and services will be provided by officials.
Lordsburg Municipal Schools announce a Summer Shop program starting Monday June 4 at 5 PM. Led by R L Blanton the eight week course runs five days weekly with two sessions daily 5:00 to 7:30 PM and 7:30 to 10:00 PM. Registration required. Junior High sessions reserved Tuesdays and Thursdays 5:00 to 7:30 PM.
VA states veterans need not pay attorneys or agents for monetary claims. Fees are paid by VA and deducted from benefits once the claim is allowed. Maximum statutory fees are 10 dollars for original claims and 2 dollars for increased benefits. Agents charging veterans risk penalties and loss of accreditation.
A student recounts an honor trip to Northern Arizona Museum in Playstaff Arizona then to the Grand Canyon. They describe the canyon’s vast dimensions and layered formations, seasonal changes and views at afternoon sunset and dawn. Wildlife includes many bird and mammal species and rare Kaibab populations. Two guests registered at All State Courts motel in Lordsburg stole bedding and towels, fled in a Ford pickup from Tucson. Las Cruces police arrested them. Lordsburg police recovered the loot and the pair paid fines totaling about 60 dollars before release.
Athletic Director Paul Probert announces seven game plan for the Mavericks with four away and three home dates. The list includes Western, Hatch, Deming, Cobre, Tularosa, Los Lunas, and Hot Springs matchups. A September 14 home game remains unsettled, affecting Lordsburg fans if not secured.
Farmers Home Administration offers soil and water conservation loans to Hidalgo County farmers whose credit cannot be handled by banks. Eligible borrowers include farmers associations. Loans fund terraces dikes ponds tanks ditches canals waterways and drainage improvements. Continuation noted on page.
The 23rd and 14th Department Encampments of the VFW and Ladies Auxiliary to the VFW of New Mexico meet in Silver City June 6 to 9. Commander in Chief Timothy J. Murphy will visit, with a grand parade on Friday at 4 30 P M. Official headquarters: Murray Hotel in Silver City.
Mrs. J. K. Spencer, Selective Service clerk of local Boards 2 and 12, will attend a state convention of local board clerks at Santa Fe New Mexico on June 5 1956. Lordsburg office will close from 8 A M June 4 to 8 A M June 7.
