AmTrak seeks shelter and ramp in Lordsburg
Representatives from AmTrak in El Paso and Tucson met Lordsburg Mayor Salvador Diaz and City Councilor Pansy McDonald to discuss a city built ramp and shelter required for AmTrak to continue stops. County To Lease Voting Machines Hidalgo Co
Hidalgo County will lease electronic voting machines for the November election as current lever action machines cannot handle all presidential candidates. Fair Parade Set for August 28 in Hidalgo County

Arrests Made In Marijuana Bust Here
Two juveniles from Playas and Las Cruces and one adult from Kirkland were arrested in the Lordsburg area on July 20 on marijuana charges. About ten pounds worth $7,000 were confiscated. Sheriff Bob Hall said the investigation continues and more arrests are possible. The arrests were a joint effort by Hidalgo County Sheriff’s Department and Lordsburg City Police.

Ruby Bene 86, longtime Lordsburg resident, died Sunday after a short stay at Sunshine Haven Nursing Home. Funeral service Friday 10:00 at First Assembly of God Church with Rev. Glen Gray and Pastor Dennis Mariano officiating. Interment at Mountain View Cemetery. Born June 16, 1906 in Alpine Pass Arkansas. Married Franklin W Bene November 16, 1951. Frank was a Hidalgo Hotel desk clerk. Ruby worked 25 years at Tower Restaurant for Dutch De Paoli, later homemaker and friend to all in need. Her hobbies included baking, sewing and needlework.
