Vandolee Page a well known southern New Mexico educator from Lordsburg leaves his post as Central School principal after ten years for army service. He served as a volunteer officer candidate in Santa Fe and Fort Bliss before reporting to Camp Wolters for basic training.

Silver City Visitors Include Local Officials and Candidates

Mrs. Alice Huff postmaster of Silver City and her two daughters visited on Wednesday. Also in Silver City were District Attorney Joseph W. Hodges former District Judge Carl Duniton and Chief Deputy Sheriff Slim Matthews. The attorneys took a noon train to Phoenix on legal business. Mr Matthews is a candidate for sheriff, a position he has held for two terms.

Bisbee Visitors Meet Scofields Then Tour Carlsbad Caverns

Cattlemen are repaid for losses after federal action

Claude E. Wood of the State Land Office was in town Friday and Saturday. He recently visited Washington to aid New Mexico cattlemen whose land was seized by the government and to seek reimbursement. A bill passed and signed by the President on July 9 pledges repayment of losses, Mrs. Wood and the family accompanied Claude to Lordsburg.

Victory Club Play Tonight At Tex Maddox Cafe

Hidalgo County Officer Roy D Kerr Graduates From FBI Academy

Roy D Kerr under sheriff of Hidalgo County was the only New Mexico law officer to graduate from the FBI National Police Academy in Washington DC on July 25. The 1942 class, oldest in age, included officers from 1 state plus DC and Canada. Kerr was admitted for his record and qualifications, with instructors including Secretay Frank Knox and John Edgar Hoover. He will resume duties with Sheriff Owen Allen until a higher position is available.

Lordsburg Safety School Opens At City Hall

Tomorrow marks the first day of August and twenty days until the Lordsburg safety school opens at City Hall at 7 p.m. The program runs each Friday night for three more weeks with Ingram Pickett opening on August 21 and other highway officials leading the subsequent sessions. Citizens are urged to attend to improve New Mexico motor traffic safety.
