Elsie's Good Food Train Stops in Lordsburg
The Elsie's Good Food Train, on a New Mexico tour, halted in Lordsburg with two flat cars and a replica wood burning engine. Engineer E L Schmit and conductors Leroy Wallace and Ray Martin rode the train which advertised Borden products and carried crew gear. They departed from El Paso, passed through Deming, and planned visits to Las Cruces Alamogordo Turosa Hobbs.

Ground water in Animas Valley suitable for irrigation
Ground water in sand and gravel is accessible to wells 75 to 500 feet deep in Animas Valley Hidalgo County New Mexico. Water table depths range from about 15 feet to over 200 feet. Water from most wells is suitable for irrigation with northern wells generally less suitable than southern wells. A Geological Survey report dated today and prepared with New Mexico state officials covers the lower and parts of the upper Animas Valley. Irrigated acreage rose from 4000 in 1948 to about 11 400 by 1955.

Traveling Girl Scouts To Spend Night Here
The Chamber of Commerce announced 40 Girl Scouts from Los Angeles will arrive in Lordsburg today. A swimming party is planned and Legion Hall will host them overnight courtesy of the local American Legion post. Local troops and ladies will meet the bus at Lehman’s store on arrival. CPS Keeps Momentum in Baseball Twinbill Win Over Banner Mine
