Reed Overboard Brother Fidelis Diaz of St Michaels M
The Gallup Inde reports the body of Brother Fidelis Diaz of St Michaels Mission was recovered from Wheatfields Lake after a boating accident during a July picnic. Diaz and a companion were thrown into icy waters when their boat capsized. Diaz vanished beneath thick seaweed and was later found. Funeral rites set with a requiem mass led by Fr Vincent Kroger O F M.

Legion Auxiliary Install Officers in Lordsburg
A joint installation of officers for Robert Swan Post 30 and the Legion Auxiliary was held at Legion Hall in Lordsburg after a pot luck dinner. Raymundo Saucedo served as installing officer, with reports from Boys State delegates Byron Stiles, William Kipp, and Oscar Diaz praising the program. New officers include Jesus Estrada as commander, Homer Brooks and Felix Gandara as vice commanders, with Clements Biasa as adjutant and other posts filled.

R S Cunningham Sr of Tucson was found dead in his car west of Lordsburg last Friday. The coroner inquest ruled death from natural causes. Heather Mortuary shipped the body to Tucson for burial in the veteran's cemetery.

The Hidalgo County elimination contest for Junior 4 H Club members was at the high school last Friday. From Cotton City Linda Kynaston and Wendy Richins won blue ribbons in Home Economics judging. Sherry Ann Hudgens Peggy Moore and Marie Richardson won red ribbons. Jackie Fuller from Lordsburg earned a red ribbon. From Virden blue ribbons went to Julie Thygerson Joyce Ann Richardson and Diane Nelson. Kathleen Thyger son Sandra Hatch Jeanne Nelson and Marie Payne red ribbons. Pauline McGee white ribbon. In Home Economics demonstrations Sandra Hatch won blue. Linda Payne red for zipper demo. Peggy Moore demonstrated table setting. Linda gave a milk drink demo, both from Cotton City, red ribbons. Pauline McGee won white for sandwich making. Seventeen contestants. The Style Revue had four classes Aprons blouse and skirt cotton school dresses best dresses. Lordsburg ministers plan a meeting at the First Baptist Church at 2 p.m. Sunday July 21 to urge completion of the Lordsburg Community Charities. Rev. Arthur Shaw will call for a directors’ meeting with representatives from participating fraternal groups and churches. Citizens are invited to join in addressing indigent transients through community cooperation.

Road Forks Browns Triumph Over CPS Tuesday Night
The Little Brownies of Road Forks backed by Brown Construction Co built a five run first inning and defeated Community Public Service 8 to 5 Tuesday night. The First Methodist Church completed its expansion funding as the mortgage was burned last Sunday. Junior participants included Patty Badgett and others. senior members listed along with Rev.
