Union in Lordsburg unveils a new department store moving into the old Union Clothing location near the post office. Clarry Rosenstein, owner, celebrates a large stock and modern displays while ER M Fisher takes charge of the dry goods department, promising helpful service and reliable sales.
William Wilson will become Division Superintendent of the enlarged Tac Division on July 12 accompanied by his vision engineer P T Robinson. He visited Lordsburg to greet friends and discussed growth and appearance of Lords Run in the Grande Division under H S Fair.
Mr. and Mrs. A. J Inderrieden and J Vo Kitson of New York greeted old friends in Lordsburg on a Wednesday visit. Mrs Inderrieden recalled cherished ties with the town and noted Mr Inderrieden’s past role as superintendent of the Stine when owned by the Warners.
Mrs Mildred Townsend hosted a Monday bridge party at the Heather home. Prize went to Mrs Jack Heather. Attending were Mesdames Frank McCarthy RB Ravens J August ine Howald Harold Kirharedt and Jack Heather. Guests included Mesdames John Clark John W Clark Ernest Short W A Short and Margaret Green.
Mrs. Chas Puller hosted a Thursday bridge party for her daughter Mrs. Harry Martin of Miami Arizona. Harald Kehard won first prize, Bertha Scofield took consolation, and a guest prize went to Mrs. Martin. Refreshments followed for a list of attendees.
Mrs Paul Austin entertained Tuesday afternoon at her home with a bridge party honoring guest Mrs Gordon Alger of Dety ing New Mexico and Miss Lacey Ross of David City Nebraska. Mis Banks Austin won first prize and Mrs Glenn Hose took consolation. Guest prizes went to Mrs Alger and Miss Ross.
Mrs Ed 8 Lewis entertained the N T Club Tuesday afternoon at her home with Mrs 1K M Mc Whorter as guest. Refreshments were served to Mesdames Walter Boswell M Luckie A L Green Geo Pp Jeffus W H Small and B M McWhorter.
The W M A of the Baptist Church met in regular session at Mrs Richard Tatseh's home on Wednesday afternoon. After devotional, refreshments were served to Mesdames Lars Gass Sessum Christain Chas Pence Jack Tweet Felix Winslow W W Wilkerson J H Hindman Richard Tatseh.
Mrs Frank McCarthy hosted a Saturday evening bridge party with two tables. Mrs H D Horne won the prize and guests included Orman J Fairly Horace D Horne Harold Ehrhardt and Frank McCarthy.
A shipment of 59239 pounds of wool was appraised with a representative present. At least one sack per clip opened to assess grade. Advance prices ranged 12 to 18 percent for dirty to clean wool. Total advance payment $10184.51. Growers satisfied with shipment price and payment.
Some rain in ordsburg totals 4.73 inches, about half the year’s rainfall. The rain is welcomed by stock men and ranchers as it improves pasture conditions. Since July 9, rainfall has supported grazing and livestock needs.
The Western Gas Company completes planning for a El Paso to Lordsburg pipeline supplying southern New Mexico and eastern Arizona towns and mining properties. Engineers indicate an exact route will be announced soon with gas delivery to communities within months. The company denies any affiliation with the Southern Union and will not supply to Lordsburg franchisers.

C A Polk local agent for the company announced a rail excursion from Lordsburg to Los Angeles San Francisco and San Diego via Southern Pacific on August 16. Special low-fare tickets will be sold only on that date with a return limit of August 3. Earlier excursions this summer proved successful leading to this upcoming event.
Shell Oil Company plans a large all steel double drive gas station opposite Hidalgo hotel between Mio Grande Station and Up To Date warehouse in Liberal New Mexico. Local manager Garnett Bartlett to lead operations with Ellison and Gal Atkinson as territory agents and A L Green with Lou handling plumbing. Construction by Shell crew targets completion by late August.
