Hospital Fund Drive Seeks $20,000 in 15 Days
Lordsburg Chamber of Commerce sponsors a Saturday tag day to raise funds for the hospital. Rainbow Girls, Polly Pigtails Club, Girl Scouts and others will sell tags with a 25 cent minimum donation. The drive runs until July 15 with a formal ball planned and donations forwarded to the Chamber for the Hospital Fund.

Elmer H. Reeder of Evansville Indiana died at his home on Tuesday afternoon. His remains were shipped back to Indiana for burial. He was the cousin of Mr and Mrs Julian Allen.

New Cotton Gin at Animas Valley Opens Nearby
A new cotton gin operated by the El Paso Cotton Industry affiliated with Clayton and Anderson will be erected 18 miles south of Lordsburg in the Animas Valley on the Tyler place. Construction started this week for a 4-stand gin costing about 75000 dollars. Farmers can gin and sell their cotton including seed and lint at this establishment this year.

Beautiful double ring ceremony unites Rachel Richins and Lee Wood
Outstanding social event of the week was the marriage of Rachel Richins to Lee Wood in a twilight ceremony officiated by President H Verle Payne of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. The ceremony occurred June 26 at 7 30 p m on the lawn of Mr and Mrs Wayne Y Mitchell. A nine foot wedding bell backdrop featured cedar juniper bows Yucca blossoms and three small silver bells. The bridal aisle was lined with Yucca blossoms and pine. Nuptial music accompanied arrivals with Mrs Robert Harwood Mrs Lloyd Barns Mrs Leon Speer and Miss Faye Nally singing I Love You Truly and the wedding march. Mrs Ivan Kennett sister of the bride served as matron of honor in a blue chiffon gown.
