Chamber of Commerce installs officers and plans new year

Newly elected Lordsburg Chamber of Commerce officers were installed at City Hall as F G Behmlander outlined the year ahead in a State of Lordsburg address. Betty Smith retired president officiated and handed the oath to the new president and board. Eugene Romney was elected vice president and Mrs. Betty Smith official greeter.

Lordsburg School Election Next Tuesday

Lordsburg School District No. 1 voters will select one new school director for a six year term. Citizens are urged to study candidates and participate, with all registered voters eligible regardless of property ownership.

The Liberal will reproduce the January storm article on page three after readers requested copies of the Big Snow Storm report from January 21. The initial supply ran out by Friday afternoon, prompting the reprint to serve readers.

P. T. A. Meeting On Founders Day January 27

The P. T. A. holds its regular meeting on Thursday January 27 with several good speakers for the Founders Day program and a good attendance expected. Refreshments will be served.

Board Meeting Set by Chamber of Commerce Office

A call meeting of the board of directors will be held Monday evening January 31 at the Chamber of Commerce office. Mrs Rex Kipp was the only director absent at the installation.

National Guard aids Lordsburg in storm rescue operations

Adj. Gen. Sage ordered the local National Guard unit to active duty during last week estorm. Capt. George Eddy Lt Joe Moore Sgt Martin and Cpl Smokey Martinez led M 4 Prime Mover rescue drives clearing buses and cars from Highway 70 and 80. The guard assisted police with traffic and sheltered stranded travelers, delivering blankets and beds as needed, until midnight Tuesday.

Lordsburg High to Present Band Concert February 1

Lordsburg High School flyer announces the first concert of the year led by Mr. Roger B. Welles at 8:00 PM in the high school auditorium. The program includes Bach, Strauss pieces, marches, a cornet duet, and solos by Malcolm Hill and Chandler Davidson. Memorial honors to Col. John T. Muir and Mrs. Muir accompany the event.
