The Hidalgo County Chapter reports receipts of 14721.58 for 1953 including 1327.77 from the March of Dimes campaign and 13250.00 from the National Foundation for Infantile Paralysis. Mavericks Face Tough Road Tests This Week

The 1954 Mothers March on Polio will close the polio drive, staged Friday night January 29 from 7 to 8. It raised record funds in 1953. participation is voluntary with porch lights signaling support. Irene Williams named director, known for Legion Auxiliary and Scouts work.

Hidalgo County Library Decorates Interior and Additions

Mrs. Mathilda Johnson the local librarian leads a refreshed Hidalgo County Library with a brighter ivory walls pastel blue children's area new bookcase and updated furnishings. The reading room gains new varnish blinds and a set of twenty two Dictionaries of American Biographies plus a repainted library sign. Edwin Brown of this city assisted in the project.
