Chinese Aviators From Deming Base Visit Lees

Staff Sgt. William Mead of Lordsburg earned high commendation for extraordinary bravery in guiding a flying fortress back to London from a France mission. The bomber faced attack as the pilot was killed and two crew wounded, including top turret gunner Beach. Mead helped secure the aircraft and assisted Beach after emergency treatment.
