Radio and Meteorological Station at Lordsburg Airport to Begin

Master Sgt. C. G. Clark of the U S Signal Corps described the Lordsburg Airport radio and meteorological stations at a luncheon. The project costs about 25 000 with 35 ton steel towers planned on the west field border. Four experts will operate the stations and live in town if desired.

Literary Club Meeting At Animas Station Stirs County Unity

Lordsburg residents travel to Animas Station for a Literary Club gathering to discuss school consolidation near Animas. Mr. Holt represents Hidalgo Chamber of Commerce and Mr. Smith explains roaders related topics. A possible dance may follow in the American Legion Hall with a new piano.

P T A Meeting Delights Few Parents With Strong Program

The Parent-Teacher Association meeting drew few parents but a full teachers’ turnout led by Mrs. C. P. Austin. The Hi orchestra Miss Garner piano solos Gracie Conner and Juanita Pence reading by Miss Johnson and Supt. Smith offered advice. Three main talks by Dell Wolfe on The Educational Triumvirate Mrs. B. H. Cross on Character Education in the Home and Edna Garner on Character Education in the School. Directors noted the high quality and will reference points later. Plans include Dr Bowden’s upcoming visit.

Billy Blackburn Laid To Rest

Funeral services for William Blackburn a longtime Pyramid Lodge No 23 member were held at the Baptist church Friday afternoon with Rev W W Wilkerson delivering the sermon and lodge members conducting the burial. Pallbearers included Hanner Fuller Downey Félix Jones and Gaither. Relatives present were Mrs Sarah Simpson and her son Capt W A Simpson of El Paso, though many considered Billy a friend of all.

Mrs. B C Lingle and Miss L L Burrows of Chicago stayed overnight with their chauffeur while traveling in a luxury car. They promised to send a Lordsburg postcard to a friend who began his first railroad experience in Lordsburg. The man is Charles H. Markham, president of the Illinois Central. The ladies belong to Libby McNeil Libby families.

Camp Fire Girls Picnic to Lordsburg

The Camp Fire Girls held a Sunday picnic starting at 2 30 traveling to The Lane. They cooked supper with Miss Johnson and Marie Wright, then played games and built a bonfire before marching to Lordsburg arriving at six o clock.
