Health officials praise employer for tuberculosis test span
Employees of the City Steam and El Charro Cafe were given the tuberculin test at Hidalgo County Health Department this week. Franklin Hood, manager of both establishments, required his staff to take the test though not mandated by law. The health department commended his attitude and urged other employers to follow. The test is the same one recently administered to county students from sixth grade through high school.

First March of Dimes Coffee Nets $18.60
Mrs. N. M. Morrison hosted the first March of Dimes coffee of the series this month. It served 12 guests and raised 18 dollars and 60 cents for the polio drive. Mr. Morrison, chairman, asks hostesses to record envelope amounts and guest counts and deliver to the Liberal to Mr. Rice.

Leivon Kerr Succumbs After Illness Major Surgery
Funeral services for Robert Leivon Kerr were held Monday with the Rev. Thomas Myers of the Animes Presbyterian Church officiating. He died January 11 after a period of ill health and a January 3 hospital transfer for major surgery in Silver City. He leaves his widow, a son Donald Kerr of Alamogordo, a daughter Ida Kerr Walter of Lordsburg, a sister Elizabeth Gammon, five brothers all of Lordsburg, and numerous relatives including step grandchildren, nephews, and nieces. Burial followed at Mountain View Cemetery.
