County Commissioners Earn Praise For 1924 Work
The county board led by J R Ownby C F Houlihan and Myrt Maloney completed their first meeting of the year commendably. They appointed or reappointed road supervisors including Shugart Animas Johnson Cloverdale Rhodes Steins Merrill and Merril. They kept the county in the second class for 1924 retained deputies and one of the state’s best county agents. They reduced the tax levy by a quarter of a mill and claim the lowest tax rate in the state.

A Truly Beautiful Life Called to Eternal Reward
Aurora Saunders Smith of Baleo Missouri born 1867 died in Lordsburg New Mexico January 6 1924 after a brief illness. She married Barton Smith in 1885. they had three children Leo Ralph and Marie. The service was at the Methodist Church in Lordsburg with Vanderpool preaching and Heather Undertaking Co. in charge.
