Hidalgo County Commission and the City of Lordsburg announce a disaster planning meeting on Tuesday January 11 1966 at 7 00 p m in Lordsburg City Hall. Extension staff from the University of New Mexico will discuss public official duties during disasters nuclear attack protection and fallout safety along with Civil Defense plans and how to obtain federal and state aid. Immigration officials report strong early turnout for address reporting under the 1966 program. Aliens must submit addresses by the end of January. forms are available at post offices or INS offices. The Game and Fish Dept announced two trout plantings in San Simon Lake by conservation officer S. Virgil Jones. One load released in November and another in December, with inclement weather delaying fishing. The daily limit is six fish. The javelina season permits run Feb 26 to March 6 with Feb 10 as the deadline.

Disaster Relief Sought For Gila Flood Damage
Jack Koogler of the State Engineer's Office inspected flood damage in Silver City and Hidalgo County. Officials met to review damage estimates of 1 408 020 for public projects 1 161 000 for rechannelization and repairs to dikes and irrigation works. The Hidalgo County Board asked Governor Campbell to declare the Gila San Francisco flood areas as disaster regions to obtain federal funds.
