Santa Fe January 2 Governor James F Hinkle delivers a brief inaugural address urging duties performed and laws observed. He warns legislators that retrenchment will be required and emphasizes public good, efficiency, and frugality in government.
The El Paso Herald reports Hidalgo county ally Miss Isabel Lancaster Eeckles elected state superintendent of public instruction vows a clean slate and no passing the buck. She pledges stricter teacher standards and to elevate New Mexico education to national levels, honoring her record in Grant County schools.
Judge Raymond KR. Ryan and court stenographer Miss Parker presided over a small gather of minor cases in town. Attending attorneys included A W Morningstar J B Vaught A B Spann and C Kh Woods of Bisbee. Since his last visit he has served on the supreme court at Santa Fe and his stance on imp assessments drew statewide support.
