Harry Day Named to Virden Valley Soil Board

Harry Day has been appointed a member of the Board of Supervisors for the Virden Valley Soil Conservation District. He will succeed O. A. Merrell whose term expires. Day and C. C. Martin will represent ranchers in the district and help keep the work program aligned with local conservation needs. The board also includes J. E. Payne Fenley Merrell and Louis A. Conner.

Challenge Issued for DAAF Airy Wac Return Game at Post Gym

Civilian Girls quintet challenges the DAAF Air Wacs to a rematch at Post Gym after Airy Wacs beat the Gals 24 to 10 in a preliminary to the DAAF All Star game two weeks earlier. Soldiers drew a crowd of about 700 as the tilt entertained fans and outshined the feature game before the second preliminary leading to the All Cadet All Post game on March 3.

Pioneer cattleman Curtis Rainbolt dies in Lordsburg

Curtis L. Rainbolt a veteran southwest cattleman died in Lordsburg February 17 1944 at age 76 years 10 months and 24 days. Funeral services were at Heather Funeral Home with burial at Mountainview Cemetery. He was born in Venado Texas and had lived in Roswell Clifton and Lordsburg where he moved fifty years ago after a fall last October that broke his hip. Appreciative Audience Enjoys B Sharp Program at Methodist Church
