Spanish Arms Approved in Lordsburg Council Vote
Lordsburg city leaders approved the Spanish Arms apartment complex at Sixth and Owenby Streets with a 6 to 2 vote after a special session. The project by R H Hutchinson of Alamogordo will add 20 family units amid traffic and density concerns despite an environmental impact study by City Administrator H R Overholt. The council had previously rescinded a building permit and reconvened after Hutchinson pressed for a decision. See details in later pages.

Eleven Escape Injury In Lordsburg Police Collision
A Lordsburg Police vehicle in pursuit of a speeder collided with a California car on I 10 near Sarge's Shell. The patrol car spun on ice, crossed into the oncoming lane and crashed. No injuries were reported. the California driver Trinidad Orrosco and eight passengers were unharmed. Officers Pete Valenzuela and Ray Anaya were in the police car.
