Hopkins, field secretary for the Children’s Home and Hospital at Albuquerque, reports a strong response in Lordsburg during his annual fund drive. He urges notification of crippled children from needy families to Drs. Austin or De Moss.
W B Conner and Walter Sullivan launch Union Cafe in the former Cowboy Cafe building Lordsburg redecorated and inviting. Sullivan has twenty years in local hotels including the Commercial and Baker in Deming and the Hollen Hotel here for seven years until 1925.
The Lordsburg Woman's Club plans a bridge party series starting tonight at Mrs. Paul Austin's home. Admission is fifty cents, attendees should call the hostess at 53, and play starts at 7 45. Two notorious bandits visit St. Louis steal a prayer book and religious pictures from Father Molino but leave other items.
Hidalgo Oil and Gas Co reports rapid progress on well No. 1 at the Perren structure near Animas New Mexico. O J Perren and partners control 70 000 acres and expect to reach 2000 feet with gas and oil prospects based on geological study and recent casing progress.
Spring hints urge home owners to prepare soil before planting and improve soil with well rotted manure. Plant clover for soil nitrogen and start shrubs and trees to shape yards. Dig large holes, loosen subsoil, avoid manure in the planting hole, and water deeply weekly.
Representative John T. Muir tours state institutions and reports Hidalgo County gains 8220000 from the Railroad Grant Bill. Debentures issued to repay bonds dated 1875, funds for Gila River survey, irrigation dam near Bedrock, and a test well near the lower Animas. Harmony among lawmakers praised.
The Jovdaburg Woman's Club hosted the Silver City Women’s Club at Hotel Hidalgo with a four course luncheon. Guests included 29 members from Silver City who attended a reception, talks on scholarship funds, a clothing history address, poetry, and prize drawings.
Four hundred attendees met Tuesday at Hidalgo Grill for the Lordsburg Luncheon Club. Chairman John L Augustine introduced speakers from Texas Louisiana Power Co and Steins Merean Co owner John Perry. Members discussed strategies to keep Lordsburg in the forefront and promote local development.
Word arrives that Ed Young, a pioneer of Shakespearean circles, died in December. He leaves two sons, Ed Young a railroad engineer for El Paso and Southwestern, and Harry Young who runs a ranch near Hachita.
New Ford dealer Bonney Adams of Hachita owns a Ford business bought from Scott Auto. A law in Poland prohibits cutting a tree before it reaches ninety years old.
