Anna B Belt aged 78 died in Santa Barbara California Wednesday after a long illness from a broken hip complication. She was born February 19 1866 in Waterford Virginia and moved to the Southwest 20 years ago with mining interests of her late husband Edward C Belt. Survived by three sons William M Belt Thomas E Belt Frank C Belt and a daughter Mrs Arthur Klerner and three grandchildren. Funeral services were held Friday at McDermotts Mortuary Santa Barbara with burial in Santa Barbara.

OPA rent executive Flynn O Malley announces postwar regulations allow courts and hotels to continue daily rates beyond five days or into an indefinite period if March 1942 rates were not monthly. Previously, units could be shifted to monthly if guests stayed over 60 days. now only units already monthly or weekly must stay on that basis.
The Office of Price Administration announces new price ceilings set at 1942 levels for gas and electric stoves. Prices vary by size and type with typical figures: electric standard $189 and apartment $167. gas small $75 and standard $95.
Dave Davidson of Denver assistant regional OPA labor relations adviser met with the State OPA Labor Advisory Committee at the district office. John Bingaman presided as district OPA director. Sixty years ago last Sunday Mrs Anena Ownby arrived in Lordsburg as a bride. The Ownby family helped run the early section house and hotel for railroad travelers as the town grew from a freight car depot. Their sons J R and J P married in 1881 and 1882 and settled here, with daughter Margaret married to Ralph Fetterly of Tucson and Mrs. Ownby now living on Pyramid Street near the Church of Christ.
Mrs Emma Scofield and others attended the District meeting of the Business and Professional Women Clubs in Silver City. Miss Ester Hodes of Albuquerque spoke on Federation activities and a 20 percent membership incentive. Lordsburg earned a top national award. Mary Dee Kipp was elected secretary for 1946, with Miss Mary Baxsett as president.
Last Thursday evening a shower was hosted at the Womans Club house by the B. and P. W. Club and the Pythian Sisters for Mrs. Bertha Koff. About 45 gifts from individuals plus a club basinet were given. Refreshments were served and the game cootie was played. Mrs Pansy Bonar won first prize and Mrs Effie Heather won cut prize.
