Philippine Man Killed In Two Vehicle I-10 Mishap
State Police Officer Dan Harris identified Daniel Marucut Jr. 30 of the Philippine Islands as the deceased in a December 23 two vehicle wreck near the Hidalgo County line on I 10 West. The incident at mile marker 45.9 involved a westbound vehicle striking a motor home in the eastbound lane. Marucut’s car rolled over and skidded about 100 feet on its roof before stopping.

Agriculture Chair Elected By ASC Committee
Don Burton a Hidalgo County farmer was named chairperson of the County ASC Committee by delegates at the county ASC convention on December 18. Harry Turner was elected vice-chairman and Robert Shay regular member. Burton farms 279 cropland acres in Cotton City and runs Conejo Cotton Gin. Turner farms 699 acres in Rodeo and 234 in Animas Valley. Shay ranches Virden and operates 75 sections. The committee administers local farm programs including loans and disaster aid.
