Leo Cohens Win First Prize for Christmas Decorations

The Christmas weekend prize awards by judges Mrs. W. D. Thompson Burlingham Ala Amelia Ross Norton Ala and Mrs N E Butterfield Beach honor Mr and Mrs Leo Cohen of 319 East 4th Street with first prize ten dollars for an artistic porch display including glowing candles a bright Christmas tree and festive lights. Harold Scofield 603 East 9th Street takes second prize of seven fifty for a bright tree display in a large window. Dave Williams 805 Animas Street earns third prize of five dollars with a Santa face door light and lit tree. Joe Delgardo 200 Fast A Street receives fourth prize of two fifty for a glowing rooftop display and tree. Honorable mentions go to Harry Almeida John A Johneo and B M Kimbley. county courthouse and city hall decorations add to the festive scene.

Annual Meeting of Lordsburg Rifle Club to Elect Officers

Harold J. Rolfe, president, announces the Lordsburg Rifle Club will call a meeting soon to elect officers for 1952. The date and place will be announced next week. The club currently has 50 members and a pistol club may be formed.

Folders by Auto Clubs Sought by Lordsburg Chamber

The Lordsburg Chamber of Commerce has received requests for folders from the Kalamazoo Division Auto Club of Michigan and the National Automobile Club of Sacramento California. The folders will aid travel guides for tourists traveling through the area. The chamber also urges motels hotels tourists courts and similar establishments to supply advertising material for inclusion with pamphlets.

Cloud Seeding Contracted For Year 1952

The Board of Directors has negotiated a new contract with Water Resources Development Corporation for cloud seeding in our area. The letter to S. W. N. M. Water Development Association subscribers notes the agreement and that additional details continue on page 12.

The First National Bank employees held their annual Christmas party Saturday afternoon at the home of Mr and Mrs J A Foster. Gifts were exchanged and refreshments served. Motor License Plates Expire Dec 31 in New Mexico

New Mexico motor vehicle plates for 1951 expire at midnight December 31 with a two month grace period to obtain 1952 plates through March 2. State officials expect the plate plant to resume production after a fire damage incident. Drivers must also have valid licenses by January 1.

Richard V. Traylor was elected worshipful master of Lordsburg Lodge No. 30 AF and AM at the annual meeting on Thursday night December 20. Other officers chosen include John H. Bradford senior warden Cyrus L. Brown junior warden J A Foster treasurer and George P. Jeffus secretary. Installation of officers and appointive officials will be held tonight Thursday.

The Romney Produce Co. awarded Christmas bonuses to about 50 employees based on length of service. Each month of employment earned a silver dollar, with a total payout of 570 dollars reported by company representative Eugene Romney.

Army data request brings 600 tank battalion through Lordsburg

First Lieutenant Everett Royal of the 44th Tank Battalion at Fort Bragg sent a letter requesting local information for 600 soldiers expected to pass through Lordsburg soon. The Chamber of Commerce provided material, noting potential revenue and broad advertising reach from troops traveling from across the United States.
