Lions Club Lighting Winners Named in Lordsburg

Winners of the Lions Club home lighting contest were Fred and Debbie Madrid at 707 Placita Verde in first place with a $100 Savings Bond. Runners-up were Marty and Melissa Rosales at 1706 S Animas and Bill and Ellie Collins at Glen Actes, each receiving a $50 Savings Bond. Judges from Florida and Missouri praised all lighted homes after a long discussion.

Death of A L Doc Myers of Lordsburg

A L Doc Myers 87 longtime Lordsburg business operator of Doc's Feed and Fuel died in Oklahoma. Funeral services will be at 2 00 PM Monday at the Lordsburg Mormon Church. A full obituary will appear in next week's Liberal.

Christmas Wish Comes True For Animas Man

Kenny Stanford, an employee of Willie Upshaw's Nightmare Cafe in Animas, received a Christmas gift valued over 700 dollars enabling a Christmas visit to his two daughters and grandchildren in Havelock, North Carolina. The surprise included round trip air tickets, spending money, and a week off work, all arranged through Doddie Conover with local business friends.

Christmas Wish Tree honors Animas resident Stanford

Winners in the Lordsburg-Hidalgo Chamber of Commerce Christmas lighting contest included Best Western Skies and Freeway Chevron. A community wish tree at Dunagan's Bakery raised funds for a local resident, Stanford, whose wish was granted by donors and Santa helpers from the Animas area.
